The 2016 battle for the White House has been contentious and historical. Someone new will be occupying the White House come January, and who exactly it will be is still up in the air. With the 2016 presidential election often leading international news cycles, we decided to include the White House in the running for Place of the Year. The home of the president has been a symbol of government for the United States for almost as long as its been an independent nation–but how much do you actually know about the iconic building?
