Friday Procrastination: Any Questions?

I have been editing this blog for sometime now and it occurred to me that our loyal readers might have some questions about who is behind the computer screen. So this Friday I am making a special one-time offer.

Send me your question before next Thursday at noon and I will answer them in Friday’s “Procrastination” post. Questions can be about me, Oxford, blogging, or the meaning of life (correct answers not guaranteed).

To kickoff this navel gazing I’m going to answer a question from my colleague Sarah. She wanted to know if I took any courses in college that inspired me to blog?

Well, to be honest, no.

I was a creative writing major in college (at Emory University), and while my undergraduate classes certainly taught me a love of reading and writing, particularly creative non-fiction, blogging was not on my horizon until it literally fell into my lap.

During my senior year in college I worked fulltime at the alternative paper Creative Loafing. My boss there, John Sugg, wrote a political blog and I was roped into doing his coding and editing. Turns out it was a wonderful stroke of luck. I learned html, how to work typepad, and all about the blogosphere. I got hooked pretty quickly.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, John still blogs.
