Photography competition: terms and conditions

By entering the competition you confirm that:
a) you own the rights to the image and that it does not contain any content that you do not have permission to use
b) you have the permission of anyone who appears in the photograph
c) you give us permission to publish the photograph on the OUPblog. There will be no payment for publication online.
d) you consent to your name being published alongside your photograph. We may edit or delete any comments in the caption which you submit along with your photograph.

You retain ownership of the copyright for your photograph as its author and you can publish it elsewhere.

The prize must be accepted as offered. There can be no alternative awards, cash or otherwise.

No purchase is necessary to participate. Promotion void where prohibited by law.

The promoter reserves the right to amend the specification of the prize or offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value. If the promoter is not able to run the competition as planned due to unforeseen circumstances, they can alter, amend, suspend or cancel the competition without prior notice.

Only one entry per household is permitted: multiple entries will be disqualified.

Automated/bulk entries from third parties will be disqualified.

Entrants must be over 18 years old.

All entries must be in English.

The contest is open to everyone except employees of OUP or anyone connected with this offer.

The email address you provide to enter the contest will be used by us to contact you if necessary, and will not be shared with other companies. OUP will only use your email address in compliance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 and in accordance with our privacy policy.

For name/county of prize winners, please send a stamped addressed envelope marked Competition Winner to OUP Online Marketing Department, 198 Madison Ave. New York, NY 10016.

All entries received will be judged by a panel of judges. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

No responsibility is accepted for entries lost, delayed, mislaid or for any technical failure or for any event which may cause entries to the competition to be delayed, deleted, misdirected, disrupted, or corrupted.

Entrants agree to release and hold OUP harmless from and against any claim associated with the promotion.
Contest opens on April 8, 2014, and closes April 28, 2014. Winners will be announced May 2, 2014.

If the winner cannot be contacted, the first prize ($100 in OUP books) will be awarded to the second place winner, and the second place prize (copy of Very Short Introduction: Photography – approx.. $12) will be awarded to third place.
