What also needs to be explored is that men are sometimes more reluctant to talk about emotional or mental health problems. I'm a journalist and I've done stories on this issue. For some men, an emotional issue or mental health challenge is equated to being unmanly or weak. Look at the Houston Rockets player who was suspended over his challenges with anxiety disorder. He's been called weak, gay, etc. by some NBA fans because of his mental health challenge. They attacked his manhood because he was struggling with a mental health problem.

Men in our society aren't allowed to be emotional. So it's hard for me to fully believe that women have more mental health challenges than men because a lot of men don't open up about their challenges. Where as women are expected to be emotional in our culture.
