		<description>What occurs to me is that without an &quot;inseparable&quot; prefix, there would have been intolerable confusion between the preterite of &lt;i&gt;gin&lt;/i&gt; and the preterite of &lt;i&gt;go&lt;/i&gt;, or perhaps rather &lt;i&gt;gang&lt;/i&gt; &#039;go&#039; (as you know, it is a question whether or how those are related).</description>
