Nice review of Becky, a book in a million. Also pleased to see the image of Natasha Little as Becky in the BBC serial of Vanity Fair - by far the best Becky to date.

I find most of the other Thackeray novels a bit tame or reprises of VF - apart from Lovel the Widower, based on the rejected Thackeray play 'The Wolves and the Lamb', which is an interesting stream of consciousness attempt and very modern in avoiding a trite ending.
