I was entertained and informed -- thank you! I am wondering about the pronunciation of a word "arctic" [ar-tik'], or as you might guess, what I consider a mispronunciation -- "ark-tik." Whenever I hear this latter pronunciation, I feel grouchy! Before I righteously believe that I am correct, I wonder if "ark-tik" is an alternate pronunciation and perhaps a regionalism or nationally-based?
