The Senate Democrats also can usually count on the vote of Republican-In-Name-Only ("RINO") Olympia Snow. So if Martin beats Chambliss the Democrats will effectively have a filibuster-proof Senate even without the Minnesota Democratic machine stealing Coleman's seat. If the Dems steal Minnesota, and Martin beats Chambliss too, then the Democrats will effectively have a 61-39 majority, counting Snow as the Democrat that she really is.

Only if BOTH Coleman and Chambliss hold onto their seats will the GOP have a realistic ability to use a filibuster to stop ANYTHING that the Democrats want to do.

The mere presence of 60th Democrat in the Senate may not work the alchemy of making it "filibuster proof". There is no assurance that, when a filibuster is attempted, every Republican will vote to allow it and/or that every Democrat will vote to stop it.

Karmic blow-back . . . that's the problem. If the Republicans were left totally out of the picture they wouldn't get a chance to help remedy the Bush Administration disaster.

If the Democrats were imprecise in setting a line between justice and revenge, it could further unbalance America's public decision making capacity. There might be a genius hidden beneath the hideous coils of Conservatism. Pariah status won't help that, arguably hypothetical, genius emerge.

Kiss the frog, see what happens.

Yeah like ANYONE wants a handicap to not be able to do their job. Obama can simply say no.

Republicans weren't complaining when they could do whatever they wanted. Now they want checks and balances. Sorry Republicans had their chance to set that example for the last EIGHT YEARS!! And they didn't.
