The history of the pond is very interesting and i see why Henry David Thoreau choose to live there for 2 days 2 months and 2 years. The trees make a great part of the pond espescially in fall when the leaves are red and yellow, and the horizon is beautiful during the sunset. Some ponds were renamed, as you point out, but others remain and are very large.
