I could certainly see John Lyon's point in not choosing to mention September 11th in his introduction. However, I believe that the events that took place that awful day reflect a pivotal moment in history, and it might be interesting for future generations to read the introduction and understand how a book written over 100 years ago would still be relevant in our society- especially if it was written at that exact moment in time an event took place. Kind of like a time capsule, our future generations would be able to take a glimpse back into time and understand how the book's story, although maybe slightly different, could still merit considerable relevance.
