<description>You seem very &quot;behind the times&quot;. An autistic individual may include contradictory &quot;different arousal responses&quot;. For example, the same individual may have a hugely heightened sensitivity to physical contact yet be very resistant to pain. The major stress of being fired yet again might be laughed off, yet the minor stress of possibly upsetting a friend may cause days of bitter anxiety. The office autistic, quietly solving unsolvable problems and quite comfortable with bluntly telling MDs of large companies that the impossible can&#039;t be done, might get all rattly when confronted with the task of communicating with the newest work experience person in &quot;normal&quot; sentences.

To conclude, the so-called autism explosion has flooded the internet with a lot of extremely knowledgeable minds, and it behooves any writer or theorist on this subject to make damn sure that all their facts are absolutely correct. Which, in the light of the frequent contradictions involved, may not be easy.

Good luck,
