Solving Starbucks and Fat Politics

Some items of note from the weekend…

Tim Harford, aka The Undercover Economist, gave Slate.com readers a peek behind the Starbucks curtain on Friday. Careful OUP Blog readers may recognize Harford’s economizing tip (we gave you a link to it back in November): Ask for a “short” at the counter and you’ll save money. Harford also explains why the smaller option tastes better and why the “short” is not on the menu.

Daniel Drezner, over at his blog, plugged Eric Oliver’s book Fat Politics this weekend. In addition to assuring us that Oliver himself is “quite svelte,” Drezner wonders why the food and restaurant industries have not been more forceful in fighting the obesity myth. Drezner includes a long quote from this article in the Univ. of Chicago Chronicle.
